Countries representing more than half of the global gross domestic product (GDP), including India and the US, launched a 12-month action plan on Friday during the United Nations climate summit in Egypt.

The plan aims to make clean technologies cheaper and more accessible everywhere to combat climate change. In accordance with the United Nations Infrastructure Convention on Climate Change (UNFCC)

The plan includes steps to reduce electricity, transport and steel-related carbon emissions, increase the production of low-emission hydrogen and, by the time COP28 is held in the UAE, under the ‘Breakthrough Agenda’. 25 sector-specific “priorities” have been included to accelerate the move towards sustainable agriculture.

The agenda reflects a global commitment to work together this decade to accelerate and accelerate the development and use of clean technologies to help achieve the 1.5°C target.
