6 killed, 59 injured in blast at firecracker factory in Madhya Pradesh’s Harda

At least 6 people died, and around 59 were injured in an explosion at a firecracker factory in Madhya Pradesh’s Bairagarh village in Harda district, on Tuesday morning.

The injured have been admitted to the hospital, and few are critical, Harda District Magistrate, Rishi Garg told India Today.

On the instructions of Betul Collector Narendra Kumar Suryavanshi, Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. Ravikant Uikey, has sent four 108 ambulances and a medical team, which includes two doctors along with other staff, to Harda.

From Betul district to Harda, for the fire accident, 15 SDRF (State Disaster Response Force) personnel, 4 home guards, 1 police constable, 1 head inspector, a vehicle driver, 3 fire extinguishers, 5 stretchers, 1 compressor machine, 15 gumboots, 15 helmets, and 4 harnesses with full body harnesses were dispatched.

The rescue operation is on and SDRF is on the spot with the ambulances.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced Rs 2 lakh compensation to the family of each deceased and Rs 50,000 to injured people. He also expressed his condolences to the families of those who lost their loved ones in the explosion.

The Prime Minister’s Office shared Modi’s statement in a post on X: “Distressed by the loss of lives due to the mishap at a cracker factory in Harda, Madhya Pradesh. Condolences to all those who have lost their loved ones. May those injured recover at the earliest. The local administration is assisting all those affected. Rs 2 lakh from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each deceased. The injured will be given Rs. 50,000.”
