68th National Film Awards Ceremony: Ajay Devgn, Suriya honoured with Best Actor Awards

The winners of the 68th National Film Awards were announced on July 22. The National Award for Best Actor was jointly won by Suriya for Soorarai Pottru and Ajay Devgn for Tanhaji.

Aparna Balamurali won the Best Actress Award for her role in Soorarai Pottru. On September 30, the winners received the National Awards at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. Ajay and Suriya received the Best Actor Awards for their respective films.

AJAY, SURIYA RECEIVE BEST ACTOR AWARDS
Ajay Devgn and Suriya jointly won the Best Actor Award for their films, Tanhaji and Soorarai Pottru, respectively. The duo had penned heartfelt notes after the winners were announced on July 22. The superstars received the awards from President Draupadi Murmu and Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Anurag Singh Thakur.

ABOUT TANHAJI
Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior has been directed by Om Raut and stars Saif Ali Khan and Sharad Kelkar. The film released in 2020 and was one of the highest-grossing films of the year. Ajay played the titular role of the warrior and received praise for his immaculate performance.

ABOUT SOORARAI POTTRU
Directed by Sudha Kongara, Soorarai Pottru released on Amazon Prime Video in November. Dubbed in Kannada and Malayalam under the same title and in Telugu as Aakasam Nee Haddu Raa, the film is the third highest-rated film on IMDb with a 9.1 rating. With Suriya and Aparna Balamurali playing the lead roles, Soorarai Pottru stars Paresh Rawal, Urvashi, Mohan Babu, and Karunas, among others in pivotal roles. Recently, Suriya announced that he will remake the film in Hindi under his production house.
