Spider-Man: No Way Home, starring Tom Holland as the titular superhero, brought back moviegoers to multiplexes in India like no other film

As it released on Thursday to a thunderous welcome. However, it registered a significant drop on second day, (Friday) due to the release of Allu Arjun’s Pushpa.

The film left this year’s biggest opener Sooryavanshi behind with its opening of ₹33 crore. It collected around ₹22 crore on Friday.

A Boxofficeindia.com report states: “Spiderman: No Way Home has seen a drop in collections of 30-35% and most of this has come in the South circuits especially Nizam/Andhra due to Pushpa but both Mumbai and Delhi/UP held up better which is a good sign.

The second day of the film should be in the 21-22 crore nett range giving it a 55 crore nett two day total. The film should gain momentum again over weekend.”

Spider-Man: No Way Home’s day one collection was 3.5 times more than that of its predecessor Spider-Man: Far From Home, which released in 2019, before the pandemic. It registered the second highest opening in the history of Hollywood releases in India, after 2019 film Avengers Endgame.

Directed by Jon Watts, Spider-Man: No Way Home marks the return of Tom Holland as Peter Parker after playing the character in 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home as well as three Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movies.

In the new film, with Spider-Man’s identity is now revealed, Peter Parker asks Doctor Strange for help. When a spell goes wrong, dangerous foes from other worlds start to appear, forcing Peter to discover what it truly means to be Spider-Man.
