Ban Laal Singh Chaddha in Bengal! PIL filed against Aamir Khan’s film for disrupting peace

Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha has been courting controversy ever since its release. The film is one of the victims of the cancel culture as calls for its boycott have been trending since weeks.

This had an affect in its box office collections as well. It has now come to light that a PIL (Public Interest Litigation) has been filed in the Kolkata High Court against Lal Singh Chaddha. It calls for a complete ban on the film in Bengal citing peace disorder.

PIL FILED AGAINST LAAL SINGH CHADDHA
A PIL has now been filed in the Kolkata High Court against Aamir Khan’s film Lal Singh Chaddha. The matter will be heard in the court of Chief Justice Prakash Srivastava on August 23. The PIL demands a complete ban on the film in Bengal. At the same time, there has been a demand that even if the ban is not done, a police should be posted outside every theater because what is shown in LSC can disturb the peace and order in Bengal. Advocate Nazia Elahi Khan has filed the PIL. According to her, the Army is not represented properly in the film.

LSC FACE PROTESTS IN UP
Earlier, some members of the Hindu outfit, Sanatan Rakshak Sena, staged protests in Uttar Pradesh and stated that they were adamant on calling for an absolute ban on Laal Singh Chaddha. The protest came to the fore after the members alleged Aamir Khan of mocking and making fun of Hindu deities. The outfit’s members raised slogans against the Advait Chandan directorial while accusing the actor of hurting their religious sentiments. The demonstration was carried out outside IP Vijaya mall in UP’s Bhelupur.

ABOUT LAAL SINGH CHADDHA
Laal Singh Chaddha was embroiled in a lot of controversies even before its release. There was a Twitter trend on boycotting the film, over statements made by Aamir and Kareena in the past. Aamir has even apologised to the audience and requested them to watch the film in the theatres. Laal Singh Chaddha is the official Hindi remake of the Hollywood film, Forrest Gump, featuring Tom Hanks. The Advait Chandan directorial also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan and Mona Singh. It marks the Bollywood debut of South actor Naga Chaitanya. Laal Singh Chaddha was earlier scheduled for Baisakhi release, but the makers postponed the film’s release date to August 11, 2022.
