Chelsea manager Graham Potter said his team can’t succeed with just 11 players after the Blues beat Wolves 3-0 at Stamford Bridge. Kai Havertz, Christian Pulisic and Armando Broja scored in Chelsea’s win over Wolves in the Premier League.

Speaking after the match, Potter stressed on the importance of squad rotation, saying his team can’t succeed with just 11 players.

“There’s a good group here. I can’t complain. I don’t think we can succeed with just 11 players. I don’t think it’s right to just keep 11 (players) going until they fall down and get injured and then we play the next ones because I don’t think that’s good for the group dynamic.

At the same time, I am conscious if we lose the game today, you’re going to come at me with the (Pierre-Emerick) Aubameyang (question) ‘why did you not play Aubameyang.’ That’s how it is. But, as long as the reason is there, as long as I know in my head why we made the decision then someone’s got to take it and today it’s worked out well and that’s credit to the players,” said Potter.

The Englishman insisted that the group is positive and fighting for one another. He also spoke about Wolves making the game hard for Chelsea.

“We’ve got a really good group that are committed, that are together, that are fighting for each other. So that’s positive. I thought we played well first half. Disappointed not to score earlier than we did but I think the goal was important when it came.

Credit to Wolves, I thought they started the second half well and we had to adjust a little bit. Scored (the second) at a good time and then maybe that’s the bit of breathing space you need in the game. And then for Armando (Broja) to finish it off is great for us. But it’s not a straightforward game. We had to fight for it and credit to the boys, they did that,” said Potter.

Chelsea will now travel to San Siro to face AC Milan in the UEFA Champions League after beating them at Stamford Birdge last week.
