DNA of Shraddha’s father matches with bones recovered from Mehrauli forest

The DNA of Shraddha Walkar’s father has matched with the dismembered bones, which were retrieved from South Delhi’s Mehrauli forest area, Central Forensic Science Laboratory report has confirmed.

Delhi Police has also received a detailed report of Aaftab’s polygraph and narco test. The police had recovered 13 bone pieces from the area while searching for Walkar’s body parts.

Shraddha Walkar was strangled by her live-in partner Aaftab Poonawala, who chopped her body into 35 pieces, stored them in a fridge and dumped them across South Delhi’s Mehrauli forest area for several days.

Aaftab also underwent different sessions of polygraph test and a narco analysis test after a Delhi court gave permission for the same. Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) officials said that Aaftab confessed to killing Shraddha Walkar during the polygraph test and said he had no guilt about the crime he committed. The report of Poonawala’s polygraph test was submitted to the police by the forensic sciences lab on Wednesday.

The gory details about Walkar’s murder shook the entire nation last month after the Delhi Police arrested her live-in partner Aaftab Amin Poonawala on November 12.

Speaking to India Today. Shraddha’s father, Vikas Walkar said, “I am now confirmed that the body parts recovered from Mehrauli forest were that of Shraddha’s .I feel sad and it is now confirmed that my daughter is no longer in this world.”

Following Poonawala’s confession, police scanned through various forest areas and even a pond in Madangir was emptied to look for Walkar’s missing body parts. Cops also searched the forest areas near Aaftab’s Gurugram office located in DLF-Phase 2 and had recovered plastic bags.

The couple had met on a dating app and police have learnt that even after killing her, Poonawala’s profile on the app was active and was still chatting with several women.
