Former chairman of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Sourav Ganguly, was awestruck by the laser show after India’s second ODI against Sri Lanka on Thursday, January 12 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
The iconic venue in Kolkata was lit up by lasers after the conclusion of the game. Ganguly, also one of India’s most successful captains, didn’t forget to congratulate the Men in Blue for claiming the three-match series 2-0.
Ganguly took to Twitter and wrote, “Congratulations to the Indian team for winning the series … well done CAB for the wonderful laser show to celebrate it.”
India won the second T20I by four wickets after they chased down 216 with 40 balls remaining. Kuldeep Yadav became the Player of the Match after he picked up three crucial wickets of Kusal Mendis, Charith Asalanka and opposition skipper Dasun Shanaka, who scored his second ODI hundred in the first game at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati.
Apart from Kuldeep, fast bowler Mohammed Siraj also accounted for three crucial wickets. Later, KL Rahul scored 64 runs off 103 balls with six fours and helped the home team chase the target down in 43.2 overs.
India lost four wickets with 86 runs on the board after which Rahul put his head down to take his team past the finish line. After the game, Rahul also conjured praises from Indian captain Rohit Sharma for playing the useful knock under pressure.
“KL has been batting at 5 for a long time now, it gives you that confidence when an experienced batter is batting at 5. It was a good display of batsmanship,” Rohit said in the post-match presentation ceremony.
