Former England cricketer Sarah Taylor slammed trolls after she was subjected to homophobic comments on social media for announcing the pregnancy of her partner.

On February 22, Taylor shared pictures with her partner Diana. Her post, however, received mixed reactions. She then put the facts straight, saying she has been a member of the LGBTQ+ community for a very long time and is happily in love.

Taylor, a member of England’s 2017 ODI World Cup-winning side, added that every family is different and urged people to get educated before passing judgement.

“Well, I did not anticipate I should have attached an FAQ when announcing my partners pregnancy! Hopefully I can answer some questions. IVF: donated sperm from an unknown individual who wants to gift a very unique opportunity to others…

“Yes I am a lesbian, and have been for a very long time. No it’s not a choice. I am in love and happy, that’s what matters. Every family is different…how it operates and how it looks. Educate yourself before passing judgement. The baby will be loved and supported…

“We are all brought up differently with differing beliefs, I do not pass judgment on other’s. I will however pass judgment on hate, mocking and abuse. You do not belong here. Love who you want as long as you’re happy. Thanks to all who sent love and support. Love is love,” Taylor added.

Taylor, considered as one of the best wicket-keepers in the world, took an indefinite break from cricket in March 2016 to address her mental health issues. She returned and won the 2017 ODI World Cup after England beat India by nine runs at Lord’s. Taylor retired from international cricket in September 2019.
