Two days after a bomb blast injured six people in Sasaram town of Bihar’s Rohtas district, another explosion was reported in Mochi Tola area of the town early morning on Monday.
This is the latest in the spate of violence and arson that marred Ram Navami celebrations across the country on March 30.
According to Sub-Inspector Ram Naresh Singh, “We heard an explosion-like sound in the morning but cannot confirm if it was a bomb blast or some fire-crackers.”
Locals in the area said that they heard “jai shree ram” chants too.
A series of clashes has been reported post the Ram Navami procession in the district. Police and state government is expending all efforts to keep the situation under control.
A clash broke out between two groups in Sasaram on Friday (March 31) after the Ram Navami procession. Stone pelting was also reported in the area. To maintain the law and order situation, the authorities imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC in Sasaram city.
Meanwhile, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar chaired a high-level meeting over the violence that erupted after the Ram Navami procession.
During the meeting, the chief minister directed the police to be on alert, to identify the anti-social elements and act against them to maintain law and order. Officials have also been asked to monitor those spreading rumours and take appropriate measures to curb misinformation or disinformation.
