“The January 6th rioters were not good people”, Joe Biden tweeted in response to claims made by former US President Donald Trump in his first interview on CNN since 2016.
Donald Trump refused to concede his 2020 electoral loss, maintaining his repeated false stolen election claims several times during the televised town hall in New Hampshire.
“That was a rigged election and it was a shame we had to go through it,” Donald Trump said.
US President Joe Biden tweeted along with a video of Donald Trump, “There were not fine people on both sides of Charlottesville. The January 6th rioters were not good people. End of story.”
On the January 6, 2021 attack on US Capitol to overturn his electoral loss, Donald Trump said he would pardon a “large portion” of his supporters.
“I am inclined to pardon many of them. I can’t say for every single one,” Donald Trump said in response to a question from an audience member. The former US President also refused to commit to accepting the 2024 election results saying he would only do it “if I think it’s an honest election.”
The interview came after a federal jury in New York found Donald Trump liable for sexually assaulting writer E. Jean Carroll and then defaming her, the first verdict against the former US President in a string of legal cases. Donald Trump said.
That the case was politically motivated and that he didn’t get a fair trial in New York, mocking E. Jean Carroll’s story about the attack in the dressing room of a Fifth Avenue department store.
Donald Trump said, “No, I don’t think so because I think the whole thing, just so you understand, ready, I never met this woman. I never saw this woman.”
