Earlier, she was questioned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Now ED is recording her statement under money laundering charges.
The land-for-jobs case relates to alleged appointments made in the railways in return for land parcels gifted or sold to Yadav’s family when he was the minister of railways between 2004 and 2009. The jobs were allegedly exchanged for land parcels gifted or sold at cheap rates to the Yadav family and their associates.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in March questioned RJD chief and former railway minister Lalu Prasad in connection with the land for jobs case.
The CBI, in October 2022, filed a chargesheet in the case for offences of criminal conspiracy and corruption against 16 accused people, including Lalu Prasad Yadav and his wife Rabri Devi. According to the chargesheet, the case was registered following the outcome of a preliminary inquiry against Lalu Prasad and others.
Special judge Geetanjali Goel had on February 27 issued summons to the accused persons and directed them to appear before the court on March 15.
On March 15, RJD chief and his wife Rabri Devi and daughter Misa Bharti were granted bail by a Delhi court in connection with the case.
The court noted that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is probing the case, filed the chargesheet without arrest. It directed every accused to furnish Rs 50,000 personal bail bond and a similar amount as surety.
