Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s state visit to the US beginning June 21, two human rights groups will organise a screening in Washington of the controversial BBC documentary, ‘India: The Modi Question’.

The two-part documentary, which claims it investigated certain aspects relating to the 2002 Gujarat riots when Modi was chief minister, caused a massive furore in India. The government called it a “propaganda piece” and blocked it from viewing in the country.

Now, Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International are set to hold a private screening of the documentary on June 20, news agency Reuters reported. Policy-makers, journalists and analysts have been invited to attend.
