Eoin Morgan feels that Jasprit Bumrah will be the game changer during the India vs Pakistan clash in Ahmedabad on Saturday in the World Cup 2023.
In the World Cup campaign this year, Bumrah has been a standout performer, prioritizing the “process” over results. This approach has led him to deliver impressive performances, including taking six wickets at an average of 13.71, making him the second-highest wicket-taker in the tournament so far.
One of his most notable performances was against Afghanistan, where he took four wickets for 39 runs in his 10 overs. This performance, which turned out to be his best World Cup performance to date, helped India restrict Afghanistan to 272 for 8, leading to an eight-wicket victory for India.
Bumrah also has the best economy-rate amongst pacers so far in the tournament with 3.7.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Morgan suggested that India’s bowling is stronger and in form at the moment. The former England skipper went on to praise the Indian pacer saying that he knows how to build pressure and take wickets at various stages of the game.
Morgan feels that the balance in the Indian bowling lineup is better at the moment than Pakistan.
“I probably lean towards India’s bowling line up as being more stronger and in form, bringing Jasprit Bumrah back in such a timely manner. It’s about four or five months ago, back when they played in Dublin, he came and sort of eased his way back in with one eye on building towards a World Cup.”
“He is just a game changer, four wickets against Afghanistan, building pressure, taking wickets at various different stages. I think he’s probably the game changer in both sides and that’s nothing against Pakistan’s bowling line up. I just think the balance of India’s lineup with Jadeja, Kuldeep, Shardul Thakur coming back in, Hardik Pandya can bowl and bowl well at the moment is key for India,” said Morgan.
