Video of singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan thrashing man over bottle goes viral

A video of Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan beating a man with slippers has gone viral on social media. In the video, Khan is heard asking the man about a bottle.

In the video, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, clad in a dark kurta, is seen hitting the man repeatedly.

Later in another video, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan clarified about the viral video, saying that his student made a mistake for which he was punished, but later he apologised to him also.

The man, who was beaten, said that he had misplaced a bottle which contained ‘dam kiya huwa pani’ (holy water). “Those who have spread the video are trying to defame my ‘ustad’,” said the man.

In another video, the man said that his master, Rahat Fatel Ali Khan had later come to apologise to him, and he has no complaints now. “Ustad ji came and apologised to me. He is my father, murshid, guru and there is nothing wrong in a father punishing his son. Creating a controversy over this video is a way of blackmailing my ustad, he said.

The man’s father, standing alongside Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, also later said that there’s nothing wrong in a master punishing his disciple.
