Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of the Kalki Dham Temple in Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal district on Monday.
He was invited to the event by Acharya Pramod Krishnam, who was expelled from the Congress for a period of six years for his anti-party remarks.
Krishnam’s expulsion from Congress earlier this month came after he met the Prime Minister in Delhi during which he had invited him to attend the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Kalki Dham temple. At the time, the now expelled Congress leader said that Modi had “the blessings of a divine power”.
The Kalki Dham temple is being constructed by the Shri Kalki Dham Nirman Trust, whose chairman is Krishnam.
In a statement to the news agency ANI on Monday, Krishnam said that it was “a matter of pride for us that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be laying the foundation of Shri Kalki Dham today”.
He said Modi would reach Sambhal at around 10.25 am, after which he will proceed to install the main stone in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple.
Besides laying the foundation stone, the Prime Minister will also inaugurate the proposed model of the temple and also address a gathering.
The gathering will be attended by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Krishnam, as well as seers of the Kalki Dham, religious leaders, dignitaries and devotees.
Famous poet Kumar Vishwas and cricketers Mohammed Shami and Suresh Raina are also expected to participate in the event.
On Sunday, Prime Minister Modi said in a post on X that “Shri Kalki Dham is a symbol of faith of devotees across the country”.
After the foundation stone laying ceremony, Modi will also launch 14,000 projects across Uttar Pradesh worth more than Rs 10 lakh crore at the fourth groundbreaking ceremony for investment proposals received during the UP Global Investors Summit 2023 which was held in February last year.
