Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi over unemployment in the country and said he wants the nation to chant “Jai Shri Ram and die of hunger”.
He made the remarks as his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra resumed from Sarangpur, Madhya Pradesh today. The Congress MP was welcomed with slogans of “Modi, Modi” and “Jai Shree Ram” by BJP workers.
BJP workers also offered potatoes to the Congress leader, and asked him to give gold in return.
While welcoming the slogans raised by the BJP workers, Rahul Gandhi criticised the prime Minister against unemployment, saying that young jobless individuals “keep watching reels (on social media) all day long”.
“The Prime Minister wants you to look at your phones all day, chant Jai Shri Ram and then die of hunger,” he added.
On the BJP-led Central government’s Agniveer scheme, the Congress MP said that “earlier, the armed forces used to give couple of guarantees to the youth – first, the youth would be given a pension and second, they would get respect if they lose their lives”.
“Now, the Agniveer Scheme has been implemented. Under this, four people would be inducted. Out of these four, three would be relieved. These three people would be the SC, ST and the OBC,” he added.
