Cloudy sky, gusty winds in Delhi today, temperature likely to rise ahead

Delhi is likely to witness a partly cloudy sky with gusty winds blowing through the day, the Regional Meteorological Centre has said.

The maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 35 and 20 degrees Celsius. “Partly cloudy sky, gusty winds (speed 30-40 kmph) likely to prevail in the city,” it said.

The city has been witnessing a rise in temperatures for the past few days and the weather office has predicted that Delhi may experience further rise in temperatures in April.

Yesterday, the city recorded a maximum temperature of 35.2 degrees Celsius, three notches above the season’s average.

Delhi recorded its warmest day this year on Friday, with a maximum temperature of 37.8 degrees Celsius, five notches above average. On Wednesday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 37 degrees Celsius.

In its latest bulletin, the India Meteorological Department has predicted a rise in maximum temperatures by 2-3 degrees Celsius over many parts of south peninsular India during the next 5 days.

“Heat wave conditions are very likely in isolated pockets over Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha during 30th March-01st April; North Interior Karnataka on 30th & 31st March; Telangana during 31st March-03rd April and Rayalaseema during 01st-03rd April,” IMD said.

“Warm night conditions very likely to prevail in isolated pockets over Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada during 30th March-01st April,” it added.
