Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar on Friday alleged that Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut, the BJP’s Lok Sabha candidate for the Mandi seat in Himachal Pradesh, had said in the past that she ate beef.

The Leader of Opposition in the Maharashtra Assembly said the BJP gave a ticket to Ranaut, who had written on X that she liked and ate beef, according to a report by PTI news agency. BJP spokesperson Keshav Upadhye reacted to Wadettiwar’s remark and said it reflected the Congress’s “dirty culture”.

“This reflects Congress’ dirty culture. It cannot fight us on issues. This shows the party’s defeatist mentality,” he was quoted as saying by PTI.

BJP leader Shaina NC accused the Congress of being “anti women” and pointed out the post uploaded by party leader Supriya Shrinate on Kangana Ranaut and the remarks made by MP Randeep Surjewala against his counterpart Hema Malini.

“If the Congress party is so defunct of any thought process, I think the befitting answer will be on June 4 when the women of India speak up and vote against this anti-woman party called the Congress,” said Shaina NC.

A controversy had erupted after an objectionable post on Kangana Ranaut was shared on Supriya Shrinate’s Instagram account.

The post, made a day after the BJP fielded Kangana Ranaut as a Lok Sabha candidate, showed a photo of scantily-clad Kangana Ranaut, with a derogatory caption.

Days afterwards, Randeep Surjewala came under heavy fire from the BJP after the party’s IT department head Amit Malviya shared an undated video on X in which the Congress MP was heard making some objectionable remarks about Hema Malini.
