DC youngster Jake Fraser-McGurk has been in incredible form in the Indian Premier League.

Since his debut in the tournament, Fraser-McGurk has carved a niche for himself with his sensational see ball-hit ball approach that has provided Delhi with a major impetus in the tournament. Batting against MI at their home stadium, Fraser-McGurk smashed 84 off just 27 balls, helping DC to reach a mammoth target of 257 runs. Fraser-McGurk was elated with his batting against the best bowler in the world Jasprit Bumrah and reacted to some of his shots via an IPL video.

On Saturday, Fraser-McGurk equalled his own record of fastest fifty in this season of the tournament. The youngster brought up his milestone in just 15 balls in a 114-run partnership with Abhishek Porel. The batter hit a six and a four in the first two balls that he faced against Bumrah that saw DC dugout jump out of their seats in excitement. Fraser-McGurk reacted to the big hits in the innings and said that he could brag about those shots against Bumrah all his life.

“First ball Bumrah, off cutter and six. I am pretty happy to say that I hit Jasprit Bumrah for a six because he is the best bowler in the world. That was also a free hit, I forgot about that. Ya, free-hit ball, he bowled a pretty good yorker, I managed to dig that one out for four, so off to a pretty good start,” Jake Fraser-McGurk said in an interview on the IPL website.

“I just see the ball and hit it. Only my fifty in the first match, I took a double to reach fifty, the other two I have hit boundaries I think, so that’s quite fascinating, I don’t mean to do that,” Fraser-McGurk reacted.

Fraser-McGurk talked about his favourite shot in the innings, which came against MI captain Hardik Pandya. Fraser-McGurk said that backfoot punching Hardik was the best moment for him in the whole game.

“Backfoot punching over cover against Hardik Pandya was my favourite shot of the tournament so far, I am going to save that on my phone for sure, because I never do that,” Fraser-McGurk further added.

Asked about the secret to power-hitting, Fraser-McGurk chuckled and said that he did not have any breakfast today and only had a strong coffee before walking out to bat in the first innings.

“I did not have any breakfast today, I am in the habit of going to bed at 3 AM after the night game and waking up at 12 PM. So, for the day game, I went to bed at 2 AM and woke up at 11, so I did not really have any time for breakfast, I just had a nice latte, extra strong,” Fraser-McGurk concluded.
