‘Chandu Champion’ is maintaining at steady pace at the box office. On its Day 11, i.e., on June 24, the film has collected Rs 2.1 crore, according to early estimates.

The total collection of the film was Rs 57.76 crore by Day 10. With its Day 11 numbers, the total collection stands at Rs 59.86 crore. While it has already been facing some competition from ‘Munjya’, which already breached the Rs 100 crore-mark, it will face fresh competition from ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ from June 27.

‘Chandu Champion’ began its theatrical run with Rs 5.40 crore on Friday, followed by Rs 7.70 crore and Rs 11.01 crore on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. It had a good first Monday owing to the Eid holiday in most parts of the country and earned Rs 6.01 crore.

The film collected Rs 17.63 in its second weekend.

However, the film’s director, Kabir Khan, recently spoke about his film’s slow start at the box office. In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Kabir Khan was asked if he could figure out what went wrong with the opening collection of ‘Chandu Champion’.

He replied, “It is too early to say what the reasons are, but post-COVID, it has become very difficult to analyse logically what is happening in terms of behaviour. The opening was definitely lower than what we were all expecting because of the tremendous response to the trailer, to the song units that were out. So one would expect a slightly healthier opening, but that didn’t pan out the way we wanted to.”

Chandu Champion is based on the real-life story of India’s first Paralympic gold medalist, Murlikant Petkar. It also stars Vijay Raaz and Rajpal Yadav in pivotal roles.
