Imtiaz Ali announces ‘Laila Majnu’ re-release in theatres: Back on popular demand

Filmmaker Imtiaz Ali announced the theatrical re-release of Triptii Dimri’s Bollywood debut ‘Laila Majnu’.

Also starring Avinash Tiwary in the lead, the critically acclaimed romance drama will release on Friday, August 9 in India. “Back on popular demand”, wrote Ali on Instagram.

Sharing posters of ‘Laila Majnu’, Imtiaz wrote on Instagram, “Laila Majnu back on popular demand!!! gratitude to your love that pulled it into theatres again after six years!! Re-releasing 9th Aug ‘24 in cinemas nationwide (check picture) congratulations team LM (sic).”

‘Laila Majnu,’ starring Triptii Dimri and Avinash Tiwary, is a modern retelling of the classic Persian love story. Directed by Sajid Ali, the film captivates with its heartfelt performances, poetic narrative, and stunning Kashmiri landscapes, making it a cult favourite among romantic drama enthusiasts.

The film is presented by Imtiaz Ali and co-produced by Ektaa Kapoor, Shobha Kapoor and Preety Ali. Besides Triptii and Avinash, the film also stars Sahiba Ali, Sumit Kaul, Sujata Sehgal, among others.
