Harshvandhan Rane and mawra Hocane’s ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’ might not have been a hot upon its release.
But have carved a niche in the hearts of the audience over the years. In fact, several membersa of the audience were hoping to see a sequel to the film. If reports are to be believed, then a sequel is at works. However, Rane and Hocane would not be a part of it.
According to a source close to the production quoted by Hindustan Times, a sequel is in works, and it will be directed by the OG director duo, Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru.
“The makers want to make a sequel to ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’. However, it is at a very nascent stage currently. They have only started the casting process of the film, so it is still in pre-production,” the report mentioned.
The sequel will apparently be titled ‘Jaanam Teri Kasam’ and will not have Rane or Hocane returning. “It will feature a new cast; the makers didn’t want to repeat the actors. The auditions are going on for the main leads currently, and they will look at the supporting cast afterwards,” the source added.
The source further said, “‘Jaanam Teri Kasam’ will be a musical. The makers are looking for a female lead who can sing and has the looks and vibe of a singer, someone who is between 18-20 years old. The film’s story will have a vibe similar to ‘Aashiqui 2’.”
Harshvardhan Rane had reacted to the audience’s demand for a sequel to the film and said, “The audiences keep asking ‘when will part 2 of ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’ come ?’. All I could tell them was that, because they didn’t buy the tickets and watch the film in theatres, that’s why part 2 never got made. I have written this in the flyers too, which I distributed during ‘Dange’ promotion. Only when the audiences watch our films in theatres are we encouraged to make films.”
‘Sanam Teri Kasam’ was released in 2016. While the songs from the film were widely popular, the film failed to perform well at the box office.
