India captain Rohit Sharma, star batter Virat Kohli and all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin are on the brink of major milestones.

As India take on New Zealand in the first Test on Wednesday, October 16 at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. Having whitewashed Bangladesh in the previous series 0-2, Rohit Sharma’s men are riding high on confidence as they prepare to hunt down the Blackcaps who were hammered by Sri Lanka recently.

After India scripted history with their breathtaking win in the second Test against Bangladesh at Green Park, Kanpur, several more milestones are waiting for them in the series opener against New Zealand. Captain Rohit Sharma, who began his innings in the last Test in style with consecutive sixes, finds himself just four more maximums away from becoming India’s leading six-hitter in the longest format.

Rohit has 87 sixes in from 61 matches so far and is just three sixes behind Virender Sehwag’s tally of 90 sixes, which is the most by an Indian. Given his recent form, Rohit won’t take much time to reach the landmark and is likely to get done with it in the first Test itself if the weather permits.

Virat Kohli also finds himself on the brink of a major landmark as he sits just 53 runs away from completing 9,000 runs in Test cricket. Kohli currently has 8,947 runs from 115 matches at an average of 48.89 with 29 hundreds and 30 fifties. If he reaches the milestone, Kohli will become the fourth player from the country to achieve the landmark and 18th player overall.

The India star will be the joint 12th fastest to achieve the milestone if he reaches there in the first innings of the first Test itself.

Ravichandran Ashwin four away from becoming 7th highest wicket-taker
Apart from Kohli, off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is also just four wickets away from surpassing Nathan Lyon’s tally of 530 wickets and becoming the joint seventh-highest wicket-taker in Tests.

Ashwin currently has 527 wickets from 102 matches at an average of 23.65 with 37 five wicket hauls to his name. With all three players sitting on various milestones, fans will be eager to see their favourite stars achieve them and inspire India to another landmark victory in Test cricket.
