The latest art event, organized by the award-winning art curator Vikram Sethi, featured the works of six talented artists. Held at the Hotel Sheraton in Saket, New Delhi, from November 17th to November 24th, 2024, this marks the 83rd art event Vikram Sethi has hosted at the venue over the past nine years.
The participating artists include:
- Ms. Charoo Shukla, Amritsar
- Ms. Arpita Mitra, Delhi
- Ms. Khela Banerjee, Delhi
- Ms. Anita Kathuria, Delhi
- Mr. Ravi Prakash Singh, Lucknow
- Ms. Rini Ankita Dasgupta, Delhi
The exhibition showcased a stunning collection of figurative and abstract works. Senior artist Arpita Mitra, from Art Mania Worldwide, presented her remarkable abstract and figurative series. Known for her international teaching role, her works were a highlight of the event.
Khela Banerjee’s nature-themed paintings, rich in detail and expression, drew attention to her artistic talent. Khela’s two-decade career at the American Center significantly influenced her unique artistic style. Charoo Shukla’s vibrant representations of the five elements and other subjects showcased her skill, developed over years of exhibitions across India. Anita Kathuria’s focus on women’s perspectives and her abstract works further enriched the event. Senior artist Ravi Prakash Singh, based in Lucknow, presented spiritually poignant works depicting gods and goddesses. Lastly, Rini Ankita Dasgupta’s abstract pieces were meditative, emphasizing simplicity and tranquility, adding depth to the exhibition.
Rini is an artist whose work crosses traditional boundaries to explore the intersections of contemporary design and cultural heritage. With a passion for pottery painting, she balances the subtle interplay of colors, focusing on the fluidity of blue hues.
Her creative process blends modern strokes with timeless motifs, reflecting her belief that art is a personal expression and a connection to history. Rini’s artistic expression is connected to her complex personal journey. Her struggles bring depth to her work, allowing her to channel emotions into each piece. Her resilience and introspective nature are visible in both her art and writing, where she explores themes of vulnerability, transformation, and the beauty of imperfection. With her eye on bold, transformative projects, Rini pushes the limits of her creativity, inspiring others to challenge their own perceptions.
The inaugural reception, held on November 17th, was attended by the majority of the artists and their families. Notable guests included Mrs. Aruna Sethi, Sanjana Chopra, Sameer Advani of BERCOS, Shahana Mukherjee, art collector Pranav, Media honcho Dr Sanjeev Dev Malik, Pawan Suri, Shipra Jain, Shikha Jain and many others. However, Ravi Prakash Singh, based in Lucknow, was unable to attend due to prior commitments.
Vikram Sethi, the curator, commented that the event was a showcase of India’s artistic talent, providing these artists with a platform for greater exposure. The reception, held with wine, snacks, and champagne, was an elegant affair, with the Hotel Sheraton team excelling in their hospitality.
The exhibition will remain on display at the Hotel Sheraton, Saket, Delhi, until November 24th, 2024.
