Allu Arjun released after spending night in jail in stampede case: Actor’s lawyer

Actor Allu Arjun walked out of jail on Saturday morning after spending Friday night in jail in connection with the Sandhya Theatre stampede case in which a 35-year-old woman died.

And her son was injured. According to sources, the Pushpa 2 star left the jail premises from the back gate after he was granted interim bail in the case on Friday. The actor was arrested from his residence on Friday and was subsequently sent to a 14-day judicial remand by a lower court. Later, he was granted interim bail by Telangana High Court on a personal bond of Rs 50,000.

“They received an order copy from the High Court but despite that, they didn’t release Allu Arjun…they will have to answer…this is illegal detention, we will take legal action. As of now, he has been released,” said the actor’s lawyer, Ashok Reddy.

According to reports, the bail order copies had not been uploaded on time because of which Allu Arjun had to spend the night in jail despite being granted interim bail.bSecurity had been heightened outside Allu Arjun’s residence after reports surfaced suggesting that the actor would leave the Chanchalguda Central Jail between 7-8 am today.

A 35-year-old woman died, and her eight-year-old son was hospitalised on December 4 during a stampede-like situation at the Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad. The chaos erupted as thousands of fans swarmed the venue to catch a glimpse of actor Allu Arjun during the premiere of Pushpa 2:The Rule.

In the aftermath, Hyderabad police registered a case against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theatre management under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), based on a complaint filed by the woman’s family.

In a dramatic turn of events, the national award-winning actor was taken to Chikkadpally police station and later produced before the Nampally court. The court remanded him to 14 days of judicial custody, following which he was moved to jail under heavy security.

Allu Arjun soon approached the Telangana High Court, seeking relief from the charges and the quashing of the FIR.

The High Court granted him interim bail for four weeks, citing his fundamental rights as a citizen. Justice Juvvadi Sridevi noted that the actor, despite his celebrity status, could not be prima facie held responsible for the incident, as he was merely attending the movie premiere.
