The Aam Aadmi Party will likely form an internal panel to probe into the alleged assault on the party’s Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s official residence by his aide, sources told India Today.

The party has also asked Maliwal to give her statement in connection with the matter, sources added. On Monday, May 13, Delhi Police received two successive calls, both originating from Kejriwal’s residence, in which the caller, claiming to be Swati Maliwal, dialled the police after allegedly being assaulted by Kejriwal’s aide, Bibhav Kumar.

Later on Tuesday, party MP Sanjay Singh said that Kejriwal’s personal assistant Bibhav Kumar had “misbehaved” with Maliwal at the Delhi CM’s residence and that Kejriwal would take strict action in the matter.

According to sources, Singh has also been tasked to mediate in the matter. Meanwhile, Maliwal has demanded strict action against Kumar in the matter.

She has not yet filed a police complaint in the matter. A team of Delhi Police officials visited her house on Tuesday but declined to provide details.

Meanwhile, the National Commission for Women (NCW) chief Rekha Sharma also expressed concern over the safety of Maliwal on Tuesday and asked her to speak up.

The NCW chairperson wondered if Maliwal was under pressure not to complain to the police in the matter.

“I am worried about the safety of @SwatiJaiHind… what pressure is she under that she is unable to come forward and file a complaint with police. Be brave Swati #speakup,” she said in a post on X.
