The Andhra Pradesh Assembly on Thursday unanimously passed a resolution to establish a permanent bench of the High Court in Kurnool.
This was part of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s promise made before the elections. Speaking in the Assembly, he revealed that the Cabinet has approved the proposal, and the resolution passed by the House will be forwarded to the Andhra Pradesh High Court and the Centre.
The Chief Minister reaffirmed that the offices of the Lokayukta and Human Rights Commission would remain in Kurnool, emphasising his government’s commitment to balanced regional development. Criticising the previous government’s three-capital policy, Naidu asserted that Amaravati would remain the sole capital and assured that his Telugu Desam Party (TDP) would drive the state’s comprehensive progress.
FOCUS ON RAYALASEEMA
Naidu outlined ambitious plans for Rayalaseema, including transforming Tirupati into an education hub with institutions like IIT, IIIT, an Urdu university in Kurnool and a central university in Anantapur. He announced the revival of subsidies for drip irrigation farmers and the establishment of industrial parks at Orvakallu in Kurnool and Kopparthy in Kadapa.
Highlighting Kurnool’s potential, he announced a drone hub spanning 300 acres and emphasised leveraging the proximity of airports in Anantapur, Kurnool, and Chittoor for regional growth. The Chief Minister also pointed to the completed Gollapalli reservoir, which attracted Kia Motors to Anantapur, as an example of TDP’s transformative efforts.
INDUSTRIAL AND INFRASTRUCTURAL PROMISES
Naidu stated that Rs 5,000 crore has been allocated for developing industrial parks in Rayalaseema and reiterated his commitment to interlinking rivers and completing the Polavaram project. This, he said, would bring Godavari water to Rayalaseema, transforming it into a thriving agricultural and industrial region.
“Tirupati became a hardware hub under the TDP. We established two industrial parks, expanded Tirupati airport, and built an airport at Orvakallu,” he said, adding that steps are underway to make Kurnool the best city in the state.
The Chief Minister credited TDP founder NT Rama Rao for pioneering irrigation projects like Telugu Ganga, Handri-Neeva, and Galeru-Nagari, which he pledged to complete under the TDP-led NDA. Naidu assured that all promises made during the Yuva Galam pada yatra would be fulfilled, emphasising the TDP’s vision of equitable development for the entire state.
“Comprehensive development is possible only with the TDP. We’ve done it before and will do it again,” he declared, promising to prioritise Rayalaseema in the state’s growth journey.
