Arshdeep Singh will lead India’s pace attack in the second T20I against England, which is set to be played at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Saturday, January 25.
During the second match of the series, the 25-year-old left-arm pacer will have a chance to create history. If Arshdeep, who has 97 wickets to his name in 61 T20Is played so far, manages to take at least three wickets, he will become the fastest fast bowler in the world to take 100 wickets in the shortest format of the game.
As of now, the record of being the fastest fast bowler to dismiss 100 batters in T20Is is in the name of Pakistan star Haris Rauf. Rauf picked up his 100th T20I wicket in the 71st match.

Arshdeep picked up two wickets in the series opener against England, which was played at Eden Gardens on Wednesday, January 22, and that two-wicket show helped him break Yuzvendra Chahal’s record of 96 wickets and become India’s leading wicket-taker in T20Is. Chahal, who last played a T20I for India in August 2023 against the West Indies, has 96 wickets to his name in 80 matches played so far.

Three wickets on Saturday will also help Arshdeep become the first Indian bowler to complete a century of wickets in T20Is. Arshdeep made his T20I debut for India against England in Southampton on July 7, 2022, and in less than three years he has reached the No. 1 position in the list of leading wicket-takers for India.
During the second match of the series, apart from Arshdeep, Hardik Pandya will also have a chance to achieve a big milestone. If the 31-year-old cricketer from Baroda manages to take at least one wicket, then he will become India’s most successful bowler in the shortest format of the game against England.
