Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva on Monday said Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is “disrespecting.
The law” by skipping the summons issued by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the liquor policy case. His remark came after the AAP supremo skipped the ED summons for the sixth time today.
Hitting out at Arvind Kejriwal, Virendra Sachdeva said the Delhi Chief Minister will “soon be behind bars” like his party colleagues and former ministers Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh. Sachdeva also alleged that Kejriwal was the “mastermind” of the alleged scam in the now-scrapped liquor policy.
After Kejriwal skipped its summons five times, the ED filed a complaint at a Delhi court under Section 174 of the IPC for non-attendance in obedience to an order from a public servant and Section 50 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
The court had ordered Kejriwal to appear before it on February 17 but the Delhi Chief Minister chose to address it via video conference. He told the court that he could not come as a confidence motion of his government “came up”.
Virendra Sachdeva said Kejriwal is disrespecting the court because it already acknowledged that the summons sent by the ED is valid.
“Calling the summons illegal, evading the investigative agencies, all of this reflects Arvind Kejriwal’s mentality,” said the Delhi BJP chief.
He added, “Arvind Kejriwal is unable to accept that he has been involved in a major scandal regarding the liquor policy. He is confident that with the support of prominent lawyers, he will evade the investigative agencies and corruption charges, but soon the investigative agencies will do their job, and Arvind Kejriwal will have to reveal the truth to the people of Delhi.”
