Bengaluru techie, Karnataka ex-top cop’s son, detained in Parliament breach case

Delhi Police has detained two more people for questioning in the massive Parliament security breach case.

One of them is identified as Sai Krishna, son of retired Deputy Superintendent of Police from Karnataka’s Bagalkote. Sai Krishna, sources said, is a techie and friend of one of the Parliament intruders Manoranjan D who had entered the Lok Sabha chamber on December 13 and released yellow gas from canisters. Manoranjan is among four accused in the case who now face charges under anti-terror law, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

Sai Krishna and Manoranjan were batchmates at a Bengaluru engineering college. He had been working from home and was detained by the Delhi Police yesterday at 10 pm from his home in Bagalkote. He is being brought to the national capital for questioning.

Another man who has been detained by the Delhi Police has been identified as Atul Kulshreshtha from Uttar Pradesh’s Jalaun. Preliminary investigation revealed that Atul, also known as ‘Baccha’, has no political affiliation.

A total of six people have been arrested so far in connection with the security breach in Parliament on December 13. The arrested accused include Manoranjan and Sagar Sharma, who trespassed into the Lok Sabha, Amol Shinde and Neelam Azad, who used smoke canisters outside Parliament, Lalit Jha, believed to be a mastermind of the security breach, and Mahesh Kumawat, who allegedly helped Jha.

The intruders have told police that their objective was to draw attention to the Manipur unrest, unemployment and farmers’ issues. Police, however, have said they are investigating all angles.
