BRS-BJP poster war hots up ahead of K Kavitha’s questioning by ED in liquor policy case

Ahead of K Kavitha’s second round of questioning by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) today, fresh posters taking digs at the BJP sprang up across Hyderabad in BRS-ruled Telangana.

Posters featuring BJP national general secretary BL Santosh with a ‘wanted’ sign were spotted at two different places in Hyderabad. Santosh is charged with being “talented at MLA poaching” on the posters.

The posters also took a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that the reward would be a “sanction of Modi’s promise of Rs 15,00,000” as a reward – a callback to PM Modi’s pre-poll promise that Rs 15 lakh would be credited to every Indian’s bank account.

Last week, the BRS put up posters making reference to “Raid detergents” in the city. They bore the images of Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, both of whom had corruption allegations levelled against them before switching from the Congress to the BJP.

Meanwhile, Kavitha has moved the Supreme Court, seeking protection from arrest and challenging the summons by the ED in a money laundering case related to the Delhi excise policy scam. The top court has agreed to hear the plea on March 24.

On March 11, the 44-year-old BRS leader deposed before the ED for nine hours straight. During the questioning, she was confronted with the statements made by Hyderabad-based businessman Arun Ramchandran Pillai, an accused arrested in the case, apart from those of a few others involved in the case.
