In today’s segment of Build Your Immunity to Fight Covid, IndiaToday.in spoke to Dr Ijen Bhattacharya, physician and diabetologist from Ghaziabad, who suggested a particular recipe for kadha a warm drink made with honey, ginger and a few other ingredients, that will strengthen your immune system.

INGREDIENTS

1 tsp honey

A small piece of ginger, grated

1 small stick of cinnamon

Whole black pepper

Tulsi leaves

Lemon juice

HOW TO MAKE HONEY GINGER KADHA?

In a pan, add around two cups of water. To it, add ginger, tulsi leaves, cinnamon, black pepper and honey. Let the mixture boil for around 5-7 minutes. Strain and serve in a glass. You can add a dash of lemon juice to this as well since it is a good source of vitamin C.

“This drink will soothe your throat and also help fight cough and cold,” Dr Ijen Bhattacharya told IndiaToday.in.

BENEFITS OF DRINKING HONEY GINGER KADHA

Ginger, a staple in most Indian kitchens, is great for the immune system as it is antibacterial and anti-parasitic in nature. Honey is high on antioxidants while tulsi protects the body from various infections and diseases.

Cinnamon is anti-viral, anti-bacterial and has anti-fungal properties, and also helps in reducing blood pressure.
