The Calcutta High court on Friday gave permission to the BJP to hold a rally in Diamond Harbour, the bastion of Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Abhishek Banerjee, on December 3.

Justice Rajshekhar Mantha allowed the BJP to hold the rally with the condition that the rally does not inconvenience commoners.

The BJP has filed a petition in the Calcutta High Court seeking permission to hold a rally in the Light House ground in Diamond Harbour on December 3. The same day, Abhishek Banerjee is holding a rally near Leader of Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly and BJP leader

Suvendu Adhikari’s residence in Kanthi in East Midnapore.

According to BJP, they had to go to court as the Mamata-Banerjee led administration was not giving permission for the rally that will be held by Suvendu Adhikari in Diamond Harbour in South 24 Pargana.

Soon after the Calcutta High Court gave permission for the rally, Suvendu Adhikari took to his Twitter account alleging the West Bengal administration had no respect for the judiciary as attempts were being made to obstruct his rally.

The BJP leader alleged ‘Koyla Bhaipo’ deployed his men in uniform to disrupt the arrangements made for the rally. The BJP uses the ‘Koyla Bhaipo’ to refer to Abhishek Banerjee, who is the nephew of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Both the BJP and the TMC are taking preparations for the panchayat elections that is scheduled to be held in West Bengal next year,
