‘Crew’ box office Day 7: Kareena Kapoor film crosses Rs 80 crore-mark globally

Heist drama, ‘Crew’, starring Tabu, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Kriti Sanon, is going strong at the box office. On Thursday, its seventh day at the box office.

The film remained steady and earned Rs 3 crore, as per early estimates. With this, the film’s total net domestic collection after the first week, came to Rs 43.75 crore. Globally, the film has earned over Rs 83 crore.

‘Crew’ had an overall 11.40 per cent Hindi occupancy on Thursday, April 4. Following the trend witnessed during the rest of the week, the maximum footfall was registered for the night shows (14.81 per cent). The film maintained its dominance in the urban centres like Delhi-NCR, Chennai, Bengaluru, Pune, and Hyderabad.

The box office run of ‘Crew’, helmed by Rajesh Krishnan, began with an impressive Rs 9.25 crore on March 29. It was followed up by Rs 9.75 crore and Rs 10.5 crore on Saturday and Sunday. The film’s collection glided on its first Monday as it earned Rs 4.2 crore, with a slight dip during the following weekdays. Now, the film is expected to pick up pace once again on its second weekend, with no major releases in sight.

Next, ‘Crew’ will face stiff competition from Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff’s ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’ and Ajay Devgn’s ‘Maidaan’. Both the films will hit theatres on April 10. By then, the film is expected to zoom past the Rs 100 crore-mark globally. For now, as per the makers, ‘Crew’ has made a gross collection of Rs 82.58 crore worldwide. They wrote on social media, “Our Crew continues their box office ascent! (sic).”

However, Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Malayalam drama ‘Aadujeevitham’ has outperformed ‘Crew’. The film, which released a day ahead of ‘Crew’, earned Rs 3.25 crore on Thursday, bringing its total net domestic earnings to Rs 47.10 crore.
