Imran Khan is likely to address Pakistan’s public virtually on Friday, a day after the ousted prime minister was attacked during his party’s rally in Wazirabad.

Combatting what amounts to an attempt to assassin the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder, Khan made his first appearance on Friday.

Expressing gratitude to ‘Allah’, Khan said, “God has given me a second life.”

Sources said that a seemingly determined Khan called for a meeting of his party’s core leadership at 1 pm PST. A decision on the protest march, security scenario and the political situation was slated to be taken up, the source said. Following this, Khan will address the nation at 4 pm PST.

IMRAN KHAN SHOT IN BOTH LEGS
Khan was rushed to a hospital in Lahore, following gunshots that were fired at him. In the latest development, Jinnah Hospital’s Lahore administration revealed that Khan was shot in both legs. It said that the bullet grazed the right leg while the bullet affected the bone of the left leg. He was unconscious when he was brought to the hospital and there were 16 injury marks on both legs, the hospital confirmed.

PAKISTAN PM CONDEMNS ATTACK ON KHAN

“I condemn the incident of firing on PTI Chairman Imran Khan in the strongest words. I have directed Interior Minister for an immediate report on the incident. I pray for the recovery and health of PTI chairman & other injured people,” Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif tweeted.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s President Dr Arif Alvi said, “Heinous assassination attempt on the brave Imran Khan. I thank Allah that he is safe but injured with a few bullets in his leg and hopefully non-critical. This attack is shocking, alarming, disgraceful, deceitful and cowardly. May Allah give him health and to all those injured.”
