Digvijaya Singh, Karti Chidambaram in Congress’s fourth list of 46 candidates

The Congress party on Saturday announced its fourth list of 46 Lok Sabha candidates, including party stalwart Digvijaya Singh and leaders Ajay Rai and Karti P Chidambaram.

Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh has been fielded from the Rajgarh constituency, while Ajay Rai will be contesting against Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Varanasi.

Expelled Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Danish Ali, who faced communal slurs from BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri inside Parliament, has been fielded as a candidate from Uttar Pradesh’s Amroha constituency.

Uttar Pradesh MLA Imran Masood has been named as candidate for Saharanpur constituency and Alok Mishra from Kanpur.

Former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat’s son, Virendra Rawat, has been given a ticket from Haridwar Lok Sabha seat, while Congress leader PL Punia’s son, Tanuj Punia, has been given a Lok Sabha ticket from Bara Banki in Uttar Pradesh.

Karti Chidambaram, son of Congress leader and former Union Minister P Chidambaram, has been named as the candidate from the Shivganga constituency in Tamil Nadu.

Sashikant Senthil, the IAS officer who resigned and joined the Congress Party, has been given a ticket to contest from Thiruvallur.

The sitting MP from Tamil Nadu, Manickam Tagore, will be contesting again from Viruddhnagar.

In Jammu and Kashmir, Congress has fielded two-time MP Chaudhary Lal Singh from the Udhampur Lok Sabha seat. He is pitted against Union Minister Jitendra Singh. The party has also given a ticket to the working President of J&K Congress and former state minister Raman Bhalla from the Jammu seat.

The party has left Rajasthan’s Nagaur Lok Sabha constituency for Hanuman Beniwal’s Rashtriya Loktantrik Party. Hanuman Beniwal will contest from Nagaur on the RLP ticket under the INDIA bloc against BJP’s Jyoti Mirdha.
