Melania Trump condemned the assassination attempt on her husband, Donald Trump.

She called the gunman who fired at Donald Trump a “monster” who tried to ring out the Republican presidential candidate’s “passion.”

“A monster who recognised my husband as an inhuman political machine attempted to ring out Donald’s passion—his laughter, ingenuity, love of music, and inspiration,” Melania Trump said in a statement shared on X.

Reacting to the attack on Donald Trump, the former first lady urged Americans to set aside their political differences and consider their leaders as human beings with families.

Commending the Secret Service agents and law enforcement officials for protecting her husband, Melania stated, “When I watched that violent bullet strike my husband, Donald, I realised my life and Barron’s life were on the brink of devastating change. I am grateful to the brave Secret Service agents and law enforcement officials who risked their own lives to protect my husband.”

“The core facets of my husband’s life – his human side – were buried below the political machine. Donald, the generous and caring man who I have been with through the best of times and the worst of times,” she added.

Melania Trump, who has largely remained out of the public sphere after leaving the White House in 2021, asked Americans to “ascend above the hate, the vitriol, and the simple-minded ideas that ignite violence.”

Donald Trump, who was hit by a bullet in the ear in an attempted assassination on Saturday during an election rally in Butler, stated that he was looking forward to speaking in Wisconsin where the Republican National Convention is slated to be held later this week.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has identified 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks of Pennsylvania as the “subject involved” in what it termed an attempted assassination. He was gunned down by Secret Service agents soon after he opened fire from the roof of a building about 140 meters from the stage.

One more person who attended the rally was killed, and two were critically injured, the Secret Service said.
