While political parties are going all out with their election campaign in poll-bound Gujarat.

Which has been the bastion of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for 27 years, one candidate from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has adopted a unique method of seeking votes.

Rahul Bhuva (32), the AAP candidate from Rajkot East, stationed himself at Rajkot’s busiest intersection, where huge banners of the BJP and Congress were put up. Standing in front of those banners, Bhuva sought votes chanting “ek mauka” (one chance) while waving at the people passing by the intersection.

On being asked about this unique method of seeking votes, Rahul Bhuva said, “We are just like any ordinary man. Door-to-door campaigns have already been done. Now, people have taken to the streets to ask for votes.”

Asked about what prompted him to stand in front of the banners of the BJP and the Congress and ask for votes, Rahul Bhuva said, “We don’t have money to put up big banners… Big boards are only for those people who can afford them. The Aam Aadmi Party believes in winning the hearts of people rather than putting up big banners. While the BJP has just disappeared after putting up such boards, we are standing among the people and seeking votes.”

Asked about what are the chances of the AAP winning in Gujarat given that it is contesting the elections against the BJP and the Congress, the AAP candidate said, “The BJP has been ruling the state for the last 27 years but has failed to provide basic facilities such as schools, hospitals and good roads…the AAP will form the government and Ishudan Garhvi will become the Chief Minister of Gujarat.”

All the big leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) from Delhi and Punjab are campaigning for the candidates here in Gujarat.

Gujarat will go to poll in two phases. The first phase of voting will be conducted on December 1, and the second phase on December 5. The counting will take place on December 8.
