Foot over bridge at Balharshah railway station in Maharashtra collapses, over 20 injured

A major accident occurred when a part of the foot-over bridge collapsed at Ballarshah railway station in Maharashtra’s Chandrapur.

Many passengers fell from the bridge on the track from a height of about 60 feet. About 20 passengers were injured in the mishap.

Eight people are said to be in critical condition.

Affected passengers were heading from platform number 1 to platform number 4 and they were taken to the hospital.

Central Railway’s Chief Public Relations Officer said, “Railway announces ex gratia Rs 1 lakh to grievously injured and Rs 50,000 to those who sustained simple injuries. Injured persons are being given the best medical treatment by shifting them to other hospitals for early recovery.”
