Mumbai Police have named jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi as an accused in the case of two men opening fire at the residence of Bollywood actor Salman Khan in Mumbai.

Two accused, Vicky Gupta (24) and Sagar Pal (21), were arrested by the Mumbai Police, and the primary investigation suggested that they were hired by the Bishnoi gang.

The shooters were in direct contact with Lawrence Bishnoi’s brother, Anmol Bishnoi, who has also been included on the wanted list by the Crime Branch in the case.

Crime Branch officials stated that the investigation has found evidence and witnesses against Lawrence Bishnoi. According to sources, the crime branch may soon issue a lookout notice against Bishnoi and will also file an application in court to demand the custody of the jailed gangster.

On April 14, at around 5 am, Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal, who were on a bike, fired four rounds outside Salman Khan’s house at Galaxy Apartment in the Bandra area of Mumbai and fled the spot. They were arrested in Gujarat two days later.

During interrogation, the duo confessed to the crime and disclosed that they were hired by the Bishnoi gang. A Facebook account in the name of Anmol Bishnoi had claimed responsibility for the incident.

According to the police, based on the primary analysis, the main objective behind the firing was to create an atmosphere of “terror”.

The case has been registered under Indian Penal Code sections for criminal intimidation (506-2), abetment of an offence punishable with death or life imprisonment (115), and destroying evidence (201).
