It’s Power Star Puneeth Rajkumar’s first birth anniversary today, March 17. The Kannada superstar passed away on October 29, 2021, after suffering a massive heart attack. He was 46 years old.
He is survived by his wife, Ashwini Puneeth Rajkumar, and two daughters, Drithi and Vandhita. On this special day, several South celebrities took to social media to remember him with sweet posts. Leading the wishes were Sarathkumar and Danish Sait.

Late Kannada star Puneeth Rajkumar’s last film, James will release in a grand manner on his first birth anniversary, March 17. The film was issued a U/A certificate by the Censor Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Meanwhile, several celebrities have remembered him with sweet messages on social media. R Sarathkumar posted a series of tweets sharing his excitement about James.
He also wrote heartfelt notes for Puneeth. His first tweet read, “Tomorrow is the birthday of Appuavaru and the release of James. I have no words and my mind is paralyzed for thoughts and I am confused to be happy for the release or feel sad because he is in the heavenly abode (sic).”
Sarathkumar further wrote, “Appu I miss you and the very mention of your name brings tears to my eyes, I get choked for words and sadness and depression takes over I have lost many dear and near in the past but this emotion of mine is unexplainable (2) I miss you and I always will, you will live on forever in my thoughts and memories.
I have had the opportunity to work alongside in Rajkumara and now in James. Your presence has always been magnetic, the memories of you bringing food from home to the sets of James and (3) (sic).”
Mohanlal also rooted for Puneeth’s James and wrote, “Dear Puneeth, I’m sure your film #James is going to be a great one. It will have a special place in all our hearts. We miss you… #PuneethRajkumar (sic).”
Danish Sait shared a picture of Puneeth and tweeted, “There was only one like him, and there will be none like him Happy birthday in advance Puneeth Anna. Your family, friends and fans will celebrate you to infinity and beyond #James is going to be HUGE! All the best (sic).”
Darshan Thoogudeepa also tweeted to wish Puneeth Rajkumar on his birth anniversary. His tweet roughly translates in English to, “Happy Birthday to Puneet Rajkumar, who is not physically present with us but is forever in the minds of Kannadigas. Enjoy watching James movie in theaters (sic).”

Puneeth Rajkumar will essay the titular role in James. He works as a manager in a security company. He is paired opposite Priya Anand in the film. Sarath Kumar, Srikanth Aditya Menon, Sadhu Kokila, Avinash, Anu Prabhakar will play supporting roles. Directed by Chethan Kumar, the film is produced by Kishore Pathikonda. Reportedly, the film will release on 4,000 screens worldwide. James has received a U/A certificate from the CBFC.
