India batter Suryakumar Yadav has reached new highs and is on the brink of an all-time T20I record.

Yadav, who debuted for India in March 2021 is inching close to the highest individual ICC rating points in the history of T20I cricket. The batter is currently on 908 points, and the top ranked T20I batter in the world. In the list of ICC’s all time greatest batters, Yadav is only behind Dawid Malan, who reached the top of 915 points back in 2020 when he was the top ranked batter in the world.

Yadav jumped over 20 points after India’s recently concluded T20I series against Sri Lanka, where the batter scored a stunning century. This was Yadav’s 3rd T20I century in his short stint with the Indian team, where he has been head and shoulder above the rest.

The 51-ball 112* was laced with seven fours and nine sixes. He was chosen as the player of the match after helping India win the decider by a massive margin of 91 runs.

Surya has helped India get out of tough positions before, most notably in the T20 World Cup, where he helped the team reach respectable totals after top order failures. The batter has always looked in touch, even in the matches that he did not last long in the crease. Yadav’s unique ability to access all parts of the ground make him a special talent in T20 cricket.

He is expected to become key for India in the T20I format, barring the fact that talks of giving him a permanent slot in all three formats have already started in the Indian cricketing world.
