Delhi Police has uncovered an illegal immigration racket involving Bangladeshi nationals, following investigations into the Sangam Vihar murder case.
DCP Ankit Chauhan of South District revealed that five Bangladeshi nationals have been arrested alongside six individuals accused of forging fake documents. The breakthrough came when it was discovered that the murder victim, Seton Sheikh, had been assisting Bangladeshi immigrants in creating fake Aadhaar cards. Suspicion fell on Sheikh’s associates, leading to confessions that the murder was motivated by financial disputes and personal grudges.
Police recovered 21 fake Aadhaar cards, six PAN cards, and four voter IDs during the operation. Further investigations revealed the involvement of a website called Janata Prints, operated by a man named Rajat Mishra since 2022. This platform allegedly facilitated the creation of forged documents for as little as Rs 20.
Among those arrested is Munni Devi, suspected of aiding the syndicate. Officials disclosed that this organized network helps Bangladeshi immigrants enter India through forest routes and provides them with fake IDs, SIM cards, and financial support.
Police teams are also exploring cross-border connections and have deployed personnel to Bangladesh for further investigation. Whether the forged voter cards were used in electoral fraud remains under investigation.
