The first phase of the IPL 2024 season has been announced on February 22, with 21 matches set to be played across the first 17 days of the tournament.
The first match of the season will see reigning champions Chennai Super Kings take on Royal Challengers Bangalore in Chennai on March 22.
The first weekend of the IPL 2024 season will see two double headers with Punjab Kings hosting Delhi Capitals and KKR welcoming SRH to the Eden Gardens.
The second double-header will see Hardik Pandya returning to Ahmedabad as the skipper of MI in the evening game, while RR and LSG will clash in the 3:30 PM fixture.
All the day matches will start at 3:30 PM while the evening fixture will start at 7:30 PM during the double-header days. With that in mind, we will now have a look at the teams that will be playing the most number of matches during the initial phase of this year’s IPL.
Who plays most matches in the 1st phase of IPL 2024?
Of the 10 teams, Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Gujarat Titans will be playing 5 matches in the first 17 days. DC will be playing their first two home games in Vizag.
Kolkata Knight Riders, the 2012 and 2014 champions, will be playing 3 matches in first the 17 days. They will have their first match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 23 in Kolkata. This will be followed by a trip to Bengaluru to take on RCB on March 29, before they round off the first phase with a game against DC in Vizag.
Defending champions CSK and the rest of the teams will be playing four matches during the first 17 days of the tournament. MS Dhoni and his men after the opener will face Gujarat Titans in Chennai on March 26, in a repeat of last year’s final.
They will then travel to Vizag to face DC on March 31 and round off the first phase with a trip to Hyderabad to face SRH.
