ISRO Chief On Sunita Williams’ Return: ‘She Has Shown Immense Resilience’

The countdown for NASA astronaut Sunita Williams’ much-awaited return to Earth has begun.

Sunita Williams, along with Butch Wilmore, has been stuck at the International Space Station for more than nine months. They are now prepping up for a splashdown off the coast of Florida.

On Sunita Williams’ return, ISRO Chief V Narayanan told CNN-News18, “There are always challenges in such a thing. I am sure she will safely return.”

ISRO Chief Praises Sunita Williams
Praising the NASA astronaut’s work, the ISRO boss said, “She has shown immense resilience and carried out experiments. We will learn lessons from this during the design of Gaganyaan.”

What Happens After Sunita Williams Comes Back To Earth?
Space travel can be tough on the body, causing bone and muscle loss, radiation exposure, and vision problems, along with the mental challenges of being away from others. After landing successfully, the crew, including Sunita Williams, will be taken to NASA’s Johnson Space Center for a few days for regular medical check ups.

Why Was Sunita Williams Stuck In Space?
Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore originally planned to go to space for just eight days but got stuck on the station after their Boeing Starliner spacecraft experienced problems.

ISRO chief said, “Astronauts are given that kind of training and they know how to manage the situation during challenging times.”
