Jasprit Bumrah laughs off reports of him being advised bed rest after Australia tour

Star India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah mocked an X page for spreading fake news on his fitness.

Bumrah got injured during the fifth Test of the recent series against Australia and opted not to bowl in the game from Day 2 onwards. Following the end of the series, there’s massive uncertainty on his availability for the upcomning ICC Champions Trophy 2025 set to begin from February 19.

Hence, there are several reports floating in the media on the fitness of the India speedster, with some claiming that he might play in the mega event while others ruled him out of the 50-over tournament altogether. Recently, Bumrah busted one such fake news spread by an X page which claimed that he has been advised bed rest. The speedster gave a witty reply to the report mentioning that it made him laugh and claimed that their source was unreliable.

Bumrah wins ICC Player of the Month award for December
Bumrah was recently adjudged ICC Player of the Month for December following his remarkable bowling performance in Australia. He finished as the highest wicket taker of the series with 32 wickets from nine innings at an average of 13.06 with three five-wicket hauls to his name.

Courtesy of his sensational performance, the India vice captan was also adjudged Player of the Series despite India losing the rubber by 1-3. Meanwhile, Bumrahs unforeseen injury has put him in doubt for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

India Today has learnt that Bumrah has been asked to visit the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Sources privy to the matter have stated that Bumrah might be named in the provisional Champions Trophy squad, but the final call on his participation in the mega event will be taken on the basis of his recovery at the NCA.
