Alia Bhatt’s Jigra, released in theatres on October 11, is facing tough competition from Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri’s Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video at the box office.
Jigra, which opened with a single-digit figure at the domestic box office, witnessed a growth over the festive weekend. With Rs 6.50 crore, the film saw an upward trend in its collection.
As per early estimates by Sacknilk, Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina’s film experienced significant growth on its first Saturday. Jigra earned Rs 6.50 crore on its second day at the box office, bringing its total collection for Vasan Bala’s directorial to Rs 11.05 crore.
Despite seeing a growth in the business, the film remains behind Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri’s Vicky Vidya Ka Voh Wala Video, which released alongside Jigra. The slapstick comedy earned Rs 12 crore.
The film is anticipated to see an increase in earnings on Sunday (October 13) since it’s the weekend. However, its success will ultimately depend on its performance during the weekdays.
Jigra marks Alia Bhatt’s second production venture, following her 2022 Netflix black comedy, Darlings. She is co-producing this new film in collaboration with Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. Directed by Vasan Bala, Jigra was released in theaters on October 11.
