US President Joe Biden has nominated an Indian-origin political activist Shefali Razdan Duggal as his envoy to the Netherlands.
Along with several other administrative as well as diplomatic positions, the White House made this announcement on Friday. Duggal has served as the National Co-Chair of Women for Joe Biden, and as a Deputy National Finance Chair at the Democratic National Committee, reported the White House.
According to the White House, Duggal, a mother of two, is an experienced political activist, a women’s rights advocate, and a human rights campaigner. She is also a former Presidential Appointee to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Council. Shefali Razdan continues to serve as the Western Regional Advisor.
The Biden-nominated political analyst is a San Francisco Committee member of Human Rights Watch and a member of the Wake Forest University Leadership and Character Council. She has also served on the National Board of Directors for Emily’s List.
Back in the Barack Obama era, Shefali Razdan Duggal was active in the 2008 Presidential campaign. She was also associated with Hillary Clinton’s Presidential campaign, and was a member of Clinton’s campaign’s Northern California Steering Committee and the Women for Hillary Committee.
Shefali Razdan has studied Mass Communication at Miami University and has also received an MA in Political Communication from New York University.
She has also received several civic awards, including being recognized with the Western Regional Leadership Award by the US Holocaust Memorial Museum, as a Community Hero by the California State Assembly. She has also received an award as one of the Most Powerful Women in California by the National Diversity Council.
