K Kavitha’s ‘Constitution’ dig at Rahul Gandhi after her party office vandalised

A Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) office in Telangana’s Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district was allegedly vandalised by Congress workers on Saturday.

The incident sparked sharp criticism from BRS MLC K Kavitha, who took a jab at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of preaching constitutional values while his party workers resorted to violence. The attack reportedly followed abusive remarks made by a BRS leader against Telangana Chief Minister and Congress leader Revanth Reddy. Condemning the vandalism, Kavitha questioned Congress’s commitment to democracy.

“Rahul Gandhi speaks extensively about democracy, yet Congress workers create chaos in our party office. Is violence their new political strategy? Congress’s hypocrisy stands exposed,” Kavitha said while addressing a press conference in Nizamabad.

She accused Revanth Reddy of failing to address rising communal violence and alleged that Telangana, which was peaceful under Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s decade-long rule, has seen increased unrest over the past year. “Revanth Reddy’s behaviour shows his roots in RSS ideology. He prioritises differential treatment, ignores issues faced by people, and remains silent on communal violence,” she alleged.

Speaking to news agency ANI, Kavitha demanded accountability from Rahul Gandhi. “Rahul Gandhi carries the Constitution in his hand daily, claiming to protect it. But BRS offices are being attacked by Congress, and no one speaks against it. This is not protecting the Constitution or people’s rights,” she said.

“Is Congress advocating violence as the answer to political challenges? We demand an explanation from Rahul Gandhi,” she asked.

KT RAMA RAO CONDEMNS ATTACK
Earlier on Saturday, Kavitha’s brother and BRS leader KT Rama Rao, popularly known as KTR, strongly condemned the attack on the party office and called the vandalism a “despicable act by Congress goons”. “I strongly condemn the attack by Congress goons on the BRS office in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district. It has become a habit of the Congress Party to attack the offices of opposition parties. They came to power in the name of ‘Indiramma rajyam’ (welfare rule of Indira Gandhi), but are now running a ‘goonda rajyam’ (rule of hooliganism) in Telangana,” he tweeted.

BRS leader Ramakrishna Reddy recently made abusive remarks against Revanth Reddy during a press conference, following which Congress workers allegedly vandalised furniture and other items in the BRS office, police said. KTR further said, “The Congress party’s failure to answer questions asked by district party president Kancharla Ramakrishna Reddy and former MLA Paylla Sekhar Reddy and sending goons to carry out attacks is a most despicable act.”

“The people will give due consideration to the Congress party, which is attacking BRS activists, leaders, and party offices who are questioning the government’s failures, as well as the elected people,” he added. He warned that BRS would teach Congress a “suitable lesson” if their workers attack their opponents.

“The Congress party is proving once again that the state of Telangana, which remained peaceful for ten years, has today become a haven for anarchy, and that attacks and riots are its hallmark rule. I demand the immediate arrest of the Congress goons who attacked the BRS party office, as well as the district Congress leaders behind them,” he said.
